Aṣọ Ẹbí

With an intent to share their self-expression and build new worlds, Yorùbá person and self taught visual artist Love, Builder of Worlds has created a piece that resembles material worn by Yorùbá people for special occasions. "Aṣọ ẹbí" means family clothing and when worn signals family, chosen family, friends, loved ones and those that belong among them. Each person gets the amount of material they need or can afford and will have it uniquely tailored to their own taste and design. This practice is a part of their heritage that influences the worlds Love seeks to build, one with more shared resources, more accommodations, more tailor made experiences where love, belonging and consideration are at the heart of society. Although a trans-disciplinary artist with over 150 art pieces, anti-binary person Love was very reluctant to share their art for many years. When gifted Pamela Sneed's "Imagine Being More Afraid of Freedom Than Slavery" the poetry book shifted their perspective on self-expression and art and re-affirmed the freedom found in both.
