Hope
Freedom is the hope of the enslaved. And hope that manifested in ten thousand ways. Hope that has lasted over a hundred thousand days. Hope that stays. When dignity is denied. Justice delayed.
Hope audio poem transcript:
Hope by Love, Builder of Worlds, read by Love, Builder of Worlds. This poem is about hope, it is a really special poem close to my heart. It is for all marginalized people, particularly Africans battling anti blackness and white supremacy. I believe it will lift you up if you are feeling helpless, hopeless and hurt, particularly about the cruelty of this world.
Freedom is the hope of the enslaved
And hope that manifested in ten thousand ways
Hope that has lasted over a hundred thousand days
Hope that stays
When dignity is denied
Justice delayed
We have hope that stays
The hope of the enslaved
If not today
Someday
Some went with hope to the grave
Some manifested hope and misbehaved
Some manifested hope and got away
Some manifested hope and disobeyed
Some manifested hope silently
Some manifested hope and obeyed
Some manifested hope no matter what the evil faced
To be enslaved wasn't the disgrace
West Africans displaced
Removed from their family and birthplace
It was a greedy nasty disgrace
The delusion of a bloodthirsty race
Slave masters are a disgrace
A disgrace to the human race
Hope among the decay
Hope no matter what they say
Hope in spite
That was Hope by Love, Builder of Worlds thank you for listening.
