Keep Dancing
I was inspired by the freeness of their movements how they reacted to music so organically. I modified the poem for my shielding siblings, my disabled siblings and immunocompromised siblings to encourage them to keep dancing if they have the ability to.
Twist, jerk, spin, dip
Swing those hips
Rock your chest
Tick tock, leave em distressed
Hop, jiggle, skip
Shake your shoulder don't quit
In your lovely dress
Slide and jive, sweetie finesse
Step and kick
Don't mind no one, do it
Don't give 'em time to process
Move around like you've been possessed
This is your jam, this is a hit
Lemme see your splits
Shimmy away the stress
You bring the heat
You bring the zest
With you doing your thing it's lit
Zero to one hundred real quick
Clap and click
Boogie and bounce
Posing and prancing
Please please
Please if you can
Keep dancing

I wrote this poem 6 years ago inspired by a friend that never hesitated to dance and really use their body to express themselves. I was inspired by the freeness of their movements how they reacted to music so organically. I modified the poem for my shielding siblings, my disabled siblings and immunocompromised siblings to encourage them to keep dancing if they have the ability to.
