A short poem about a break up, a connection failing apart due to circumstances that were both within and beyond our control. It's about recognising that attachment doesn't always allow for long lasting deep connection. It's about reflection and introspection within a queer dynamic. With every new connection I am introduced to a version of myself and sometimes that version is not compatible with my idea of myself. That factor is beyond the other person's control and there's nothing they could have done to change that. The poem also speaks to practising seeing things beyond traditional Christian European binaries. What is at the core of a thing? Which one is it? Who's fault is it we didn't work out? Both, neither and at least three other things that may require more time to identify.

It's me

It's you

It's partly you

It's partly me

It's both of us

It's neither of us

It's above us

It's beneath us

Where two seas touch

It's beyond us

The day we leave us

Belief stops.
