Rules

Unsaid rules. Unsaid blues. Got me very confused.

Rules

This poem is about feeling confused about social norms, interpersonal connections and the burden of respectability. I have felt so lost, embarrassed and humiliated so many times in so many scenarios due to me not knowing which social norms apply and how. More times it's been me saying something everyone was thinking but was supposed to be left unsaid.

Image Description

A blue wall with a small white sign that says "no parking" in red.

I don't know the rules
I don't know what to choose
I'm feeling so confused
I don't know what to do
I don't don't like the rules
Unsaid rules
Unsaid blues
Got me very confused

Need not want
I need my community to learn more about disability justice, fatphobia and colonialism.
